American Stafford Shire Bull Dogand american Pit Bull Terrier

Through out history the Pit bulls history is fuzzy but if you dig deep enough you will find deep roots to this wonderful breed.
In ancient times the Bull dog was bred to Bait Bulls or tease them to exercise to tenderize the meat before slaughter. They were bred to grip the nose of the bull , instead of the bite slash of hind quarters like herding dogs, to make the bull run charge and buck. Queen Elizabeth 1st loved the fights between dog and Bull. Ancient bulldogs were banned form commoners because of their strength and aggression, so the commoners began cross breeding the bull dogs also know as MASTIFFS or Bull Mastiffs to smaller dogs called Terriers. The Greek Gods held Mastiffs as Great fighters and gave them the name Pugnace Britannicii. These dogs were used in Battles and during Romen Times used to fight the Gladiators in the Colosseum.
They were fist noted as being called Bulldogs in 1632 in a letter written by San Sebastian of Spain to a Mr. P. Eaton of Wellingham the letter spoke thus: Please bring me a good Mastire dog some barrels of Liquor and I beg of you please bring me some good Bulldoggs!
Over time and travel the Bull dog spread across the world. The breed adapted to the new cultures and life styles and new branch breeds were formed. American bull Dogs, Bull dog Campeiro, Staffordshire bull dogs, Boxers, Boston terriers, Bull terriers, french bull dogs, English Bull Dogs and the mix breeds of those! Bully breeds have a high tolerence for pain and will not complian is sick, ill, hungry or thirsty until they are dead. The are great gaurd dogs and have a high patients making them great for children. However, They are not good dogs to be owned by people who want them only to "OWN" a PitBull, They are working animals and should be treated as such. There is no RARE color of Pit bull all colors stem from Mastiffs and the mixed array colors are from cross breeding down the lines.
The Staffordshire finally got its permanent name (though it has been around for centuries ) in 1935 and was named the Stafford Shire Bull Dog or here in our country The American Stafford Shire BULL DOG. The PIT BULL is not a dog at all but a nick name given to the BULLDOG for its PIT fights against Lions bears,Bulls and Gladiators back in Ancient Times.
